Gordon,

The best way, these days, to get a safety warning into a reach description, is to add it as a Comment. If you mark the comment as a "warning/hazard," then there'll be a big warning marker at the top of the reach description. Not only that, but the warning marker will show up in the state rivers list.
This is preferable because users who might not look at the reach description will still see that there's a warning, if they simply look up levels in the state list. Users can mouse over it to get a description of how recently the warning was posted, and they can click on it to read the warning--without even opening the river page.

I understand that there've been some growing pains with this website upgrade, but that improved flagging of warning comments is, in my opinion, a huge improvement.

It must be my browser. I only have IE on the computer at work. I have a current Firefox at home but - since I am back in the woods - only have dial-up there. Not good for working on these AW pages.

My latest problem is that I can't get the red font to show up on the publicly-viewable page. It shows up correctly when I preview the updated page, but remains black on the public's page.

I'm trying to make a new safety warning very visible for the Cinnamon Gorge (CO) page, in light of the terrible accident there last weekend:
http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/4555/

Any advice?

I have had all sorts of problems with IE6 with z-order d/t http://www.twoscomplement.com/2008/06/16/ie6-z-index-bug/

It could be that this is another version. My ie6 setup is complicated, but I'll take a look at this this afternoon and see what's going on.

I looked in ie6, it is broken there. I don't know why, but will have a fix.

Not to be a browser biggot, but if at all possible use a browser updated written within the last 7 years (ie7+,safari 1, ff1, chrome, an iphone, etc...). It will make editing faster and more consistent.

So the main River Page photo (the one that is supposed to show up on the main description of the reach) no longer shows up for all of my pages.

For instance photo #15146 ( http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Photo/detail/photoid/15146/ )

...should show up for the Needle Creek (CO) page.
http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/547/

But nothing shows up on the main reach page. I don't see photos on other folk's pages either. Is this temporary?
