I Just got this email from the Sierra Club and Thought I'd pass it Along ---

Dear Bluegrass Group Members:

Please send an Email to lauren.mcgrath@sierraclub.org if you plan to attend the August 24th Public Hearing in Henderson, KY (info below), and either can drive to the hearing or need a ride.

ISSUE SUMMARY:

Cash Creek (near Owensboro) is one of 3 proposed huge coal gasification projects, which would process coal into expensive 'synthetic gas' that would surround Owensboro.

These plants threaten our rivers and drinking water, would pollute our air, hamper economic growth, and produce toxic waste - elevating health risks, including the risk of cancer.

Every single day the proposed plant would pump more then 14 MILLION gallons of water from the Green River.

Today, we have better choices. Kentucky has an opportunity to start investing in a clean energy economy that would create jobs and protect Kentucky's environment and resources so we and our children have a safe, healthy, and secure place to live and prosper.

TAKE ACTION:
