How about a Women's Trip this year?

Somehow last year slipped by without a Women's Trip, and it seems this year might do the same. I'd like to suggest the weekend of August 16-17, but let's see when the most people (or the most enthusiastic people) can go.

In the past we've chosen a location where there was something class II or II+ for novices, as well as something more challenging for the more experienced boaters. We've usually paddled the easier run together one day, then sometimes split up for the second day. Our more experienced women paddlers have been wonderful at helping the newer ones step up a notch, too.

So let's get some conversation going, to see who might be interested in going, and when and where. And maybe hope for a small hurricane to hit in just the right spot to properly drench the southeast to give us lots of choices for natural flow......

Hey Zina,
I've been meaning to post about this. I am interested in paddling that weekend. What did you have in mind?

Where we go really kind of depends on who wants to go and whether it rains or not. We'll kind of play it by ear. Any preferences?

I don't want to have to travel too awfully far. But, outside of that, I'm a gamer for anything class III-ish. I intend to keep that weekend open for paddling. So, as that weekend nears, we can come up with something based on water levels and skill level.

Thanks, Zina!

Hey Zina, I'm pretty sure I can go that weekend, unless that's the weekend Emily comes home (but at this point I don't think it is). Right now it looks like the Ocoee, Hiawasee, Nantahala, and Pigeon are all that are there, but I think I could assist leading anyone down those (or at least parts of all those if folks want to keep it Class II). I'll also be good to lead anyone down who wants to step-up to the Lower Gauley in September. I paddled the Ottawa with Emily and a friend Friday. They have huge water right now. It was pretty crazy looking in some spots and some of the lines were totally different. We had a blast, and I got the world famous MKC recipe for chewy chocolate cherry squares if anyone wants it!

A womens trip sounds fun but I can't go in August, round 2 at the LowerG sounds great to me. I'd love to help lead that trip. Cynthia, your trip to the Ottawa sounds great! I love that place.

I would be up for the Pigeon that weekend. It is alot of fun. Maybe we could hop over to the ocoee for those that feel ready. I am not sure that I will but one can hope...

Bethany we could ride together if it works out...

Girls gone wild paddlin' style! Dig it!

Heather, carpooling sounds great! I'm in.

I think a Pigeon run would work out really well. I haven't done it yet, but have no doubt that I'd be in good hands.

Meagan, wedding showers suck..........let's go boatin'!

This trip needs a videographer. My services are available free of charge with a minimum quota of 10 sign-ons. I work much better in a large group dynamic...purely for safety reasons, of course.
