Summer release questions

I keep hearing 300cfs bandied about as the best level for summer releases. This too low for boating the upper and lower sections. Why this level and not another (like 1000?) Why any specific level at all? How about best available water?

Greetings, I started running as low as 187 cfs., in the mid-90's. I find 200 to 400 cfs and 475 to 600 cfs., my best levels. That as a C-1 paddler. 1000 cfs. is big volume running.

Best Regards,
Dale Briggs

Barry, The Army Corp has been resistant to levels above 250 for a variety of reasons. That seems to have been the majickal number they could live with without requiring more expensive capital outlays to accomodate the needs of the water releases for other groups such as fishermen. Steve Ruth has more details on all this. If we could only encourage him to post here.

Dale: It is good to see you on here. Glad to have you in the BWA. Where have you been? It has been years since I have seen or boated with you. Where are you these days? Let's go boatin. Sure would be fun having you hang with me, Jeffro, Hugo, Money and the gang on the RF.
