Clinic Volunteers

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to fill up the volunteer list. I need cooks, instructors, chase-boaters, and a couple of shuttle drivers. Remember, volunteering gets you out of paying the dreaded $20 camping and meals fee.

Hanley:
Put me down for anything you need. I would prefer instructor/boat chaser, but, really, whatever you need. Let's boat something in the area before the big weekend. That would be awesome.

Hanley you can add Cynthia, Emily and me as instructors to teach a class. If there is enough interest we would be glad to instruct a kids group.

You can add my name to the list, I'll instruct or chase boat, doesn't matter. Also, if there is enough interest and the club will cover the insurance cost, I would be willing to do the one day Basic Swiftwater Rescue for the instructors and chaseboaters on Friday. If there isn't enough interest for a full blown class, I can do a shorty on Friday evening. I can dig out the videos too.

I'll chase boat or be kitchen help. I haven't spent enough time in the boat in the last year to teach...

I'd love to instruct, or boat-chase. This will be the first time I could actually attend the Clinic, I'm excited.

Just in case you didn't notice, and because I know he's in Costa Rica this week, Clay Warren indicated that he would also like to instruct. In that vein, if you want to put us together, we work well together, but thats just a suggestion so do whatever works best for you.

Also, I have alot of spare gear for someone about my size ~ probably a whole set from boat to booties. Let me know if I should bring spare crap with me.

I would do french toast again if i had a plane ticket and a boat... I'm working on a full time place to live so the funds are low.

Which brings up a good point. With Dustin in Colorado, I need someone to be in charge of breakfast.

I am currently hoping I can sweet-talk Valerie into doing dinner again. Last year she did a phenomenal job and we can only hope she will agree to return.

Anyone who wants to take over breakfast, I am sure that Dustin will be happy to give you advice and information.

Some pointers:
- Get up early and start the coffee first thing! USE THE PERCOLATOR at the campground, but don't forget about the hot water for tea/hot chocolate/french press (for the coffe snobs). Early riser start showing up around 7-7:30 and are grumpy without (great) coffee. You know who you are!
- If you serve eggs, break them the night before. The precooked bacon is quick to serve.
- Cold breakfast on Sunday with leftovers makes a hungover cook's job much easier and gets the student's on the water quicker for the dreaded ride home.
- If you plan on cooking, make sure you bring plenty of stoves including the big daddy for the hot water. DO NOT only depend on the stove at the campground to feed 75 or more people.
- Some snacks outside on the deck will keep hungry boaters out of the kitchen.
- Have help arranged the night before and know what time to be in the kitchen in the morning.

Most importantly, have fun! You get to choose what run you want to do that day grinning smiley

Last night, Jackie and I discussed maybe taking the kids. Know Brit will be there, don't know if we know about her's yet. Kids need a lot of supervision as when they swim... crap goes everywhere and if you had more than one swimmer at a time... can really get interesting. We could pick up other kids too, but think you need close to 1:1 ratio with kids.
