BWA & Elkhorn Acres management

Before we start electing(appointing?) representatives to a new managing body for Elkhorn Acres, shouldn't we determine that a new managing body is needed?

The BWA has had very little real discussion on the issue and we are nowhere near a consensus.

Are we, as a club, going to discuss this issue and come to an agreement, or are we going to allow the President and the Program Director make this decision for the club?

If I still have a vote within the BWA, I would like the chance for this issue to be discussed and voted on within the club.

Then, out of respect for the other area clubs, they need a chance to discuss and vote also.

Consensus?

If, on the other hand, the property owner, American Whitewater, chooses to insist upon a new managing body, regardless of what the local paddlers want, then a new managing body we will have. So far, that is not the case.

Beat your drum, Bla Bla Bla. OK, I’ll stick my neck out - a new managing body is needed. The EAMG is reactive at best and has done nothing, ever! We never heard a sound from them (who ever “them” are?) until the NPFF camping discussion and vote by the BWA. And the ones voicing opposition were not EAMG members in the first place. Have you ever seen the EAMG position posted! Heck, In Zina’s post she can’t even commit to a meeting date. If the EAMG insists it exists then show itself. Why don't you go beat on something else for a while.

I have to agree with dale that we seem to be putting the cart before the horse. If and when the time comes to form a new managing body I think the prez and conservation officer (as mentioned elsewhere) should take those positions. But until it has been established that a new group is forming Dale, beating a drum or not, is on point with his remarks. J

OKAY, Mark just posted the request for a new management grp. Therefore, I repeat that the prez and the conservation officer(if they wish) should be the liasons. J

This entire action is BS! The BWA has not had a voice in this decision, nor a vote to authorize the few parties involved in manipulating the politics of Elkhorn Acres property management under the umbrella of this club. What is all of the management needed? The grass is always cut, people who utilize the parking generally pick up from those who fail to do so, other individuals volunteer to make regular rounds to clean up the property and generally its a parking lot at a take out on Elkhorn. In fact it's always been one of the nicer private take outs I've ever used. So what the H*** is the problem with the existing EAMG that a few officers in the BWA feel the need to manipulate the club and the AW into altering the management of the property which basically needs little managment.

Or is this just a big ego bolstering childish tantrum for the few to get what they want at the expense of club policy and protocol. It seems to me that voting was initiated to voice the clubs wishes and recently voting online by members unable to be present at a meeting was initiated yet to the best of my knowledge a vote was never taken, NOT at the meetings, NOT allowing online ballots, Nothing just manipulation and decision without representation.

Like I said this whole thing is BS!

George here is the post by Mark Singleton:

While anyone can read and post to the new Elkhorn Forum, in order to receive auto email of all the posts made from that forum, folks will need to let me know (via email or private message please) to be added to the Elkhorn Forum Group. Those who have previously posted on the Elkhorn Forum have already been added to that group - including you and Chris S.

I'm not going to reply to your post here because, as previously requested, we are asking folks concerned and wishing to discuss the new Elkhorn Council to please post on the Elkhorn Forum. Thanks.

Who is "We"?

Did the club vote this into policy?

Since when is discussing a disagreement between members of the BWA become a non BWA forum subject?

Why is it appropriate to discuss the BWA club disagreement on the AW forum bu tnot the BWA forum?

On who's authority was this decision made?

George, please take your questions and put them in the Elkhorn Forum.

Meanwhile, here's a great video. I hope you, along with everyone else who has to get yet another email about AW's property on the Elkhorn, will enjoy:
