2004 AW Member-Get-A-Member Campaign...Continues!

So far the campaign has been a great success, but due to slow mailing we have decided to continue the program until July 31st.

If you still know someone who is not a member and you would like to receive an AW Nalgene Bottle then get busy!

"When you experience something good, you want to share it with others.  It's the natural thing to do."

Well the paddling season is in full swing and that means, that AW is about to start its bi-annual membership drive.

In the past we have relied upon costly mass mailing to recruit new members but this year we decided we would rather give our current members an extra gift rather than spending all our money on the US Postal Service.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

This summer we are asking each AW member to get a member.  This is AW's first Member-Get-a-Member Campaign and it works just like it sounds.  Now you are probably thinking, but all of the people I know are already AW Members.  Maybe!  The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) estimates that there are 430,000 whitewater kayaking enthusiasts and only 2% (6,500) are AW Members.  We are sure you know at least one whitewater paddler who is not an AW member.

If you help us sign up just (1) new member we will thank YOU with a custom AW 32oz Nalgene Water Bottle.  You read right, share the benefits of an AW membership with just one person and you will receive a FREE Nalgene Water Bottle.

AW Membership Benefits

The more members AW has the louder our voice becomes on whitewater related issues such as access fees, gauge terminations, and dam relicensings.  AW is your organization and the membership dues brought in by additional memberships gives AW the solid financial footing it needs to continue its conservation, access, and safety programs.

Just this past Spring, water began to flow in the Hoosic River, NY for the first time in a long time.  This whitewater release was the result of years of negotiations with Reliant Energy.  These negotiations require significant time commitments of AW staff. Most relicensings take at least 5 years.  We do this work on behalf of the paddling community-you and your paddling friends.  This work is paid for through membership dues and donations.  We thank those AW members that have helped make these Hoosic River Whitewater Releases a reality.  For those boaters that are not AW members our 1st annual Member-Get-A-Member Campaign is an excellent opportunity to join American Whitewater.
