Accident Description

 Officials searching for missing kayaker

by the Associated Press (05-04-10)

MUNFORDVILLE, KY: A spokesman for the state fish and wildlife dept. says a man is missing after going kayaking in the swollen Green River. Mark Marraccini says Robert Atcher has not been seen since Mon. afternoon (05-03), when the kayak he was using hit a logjam on the swiftly running river and the current pulled him under water.

Marraccini says Atcher's companion, Gary Tyler, who was in another kayak, also hit the logjam but he was able to get to safety. The News-Enterprise of Elizabethtown reported Atcher's age as 55 and his hometown as Radcliff. Marraccini did not have further information about the kayakers. Marraccini says the Green River is at flood stage and the water is extremely dangerous.
