Initial Report: In late June there were two more fatalities involving inexperienced paddlers and strainers. On June 23rd Laurel Walker, 21, was paddling the Diamond Fork river in Utah with her husband. According to an article from the Salt Lake City Tribune forwarded by Rob Heineman they were attempting to get out and portage around a strainer when she flipped and washed beneath it. Local firefighters and search and rescue personnel were able to pull her free 40 minutes later. CW
