| Summary: | In July of 1986, 35 year old Anchorage woman disappeared underwater when the canoe she and a friend were paddling swamped, smashed into a rock, and flipped. The woman had taken a flatwater canoeing class but had ventured into Class II whitewater. Club members suspect her foot was caught between rocks. The force of the current apparently pulled her life jacket off and kept her submerged. Her body has never been found.
