Volunteers Will Launch Flotilla to Clean Up the Clackamas River Sunday, September 7th

Date: Sunday September 7, 2008
When: Sign-in starts at 9:30am @ Barton Park
Where:
Meet at Barton Park.
What's Happening: River runners with big hearts are cordially invited to join us -- kayakers, rafters, drift boaters, tubers, river boarders, snorkelers and even scuba divers! Join one of 15 pods which will launch under the leadership of skilled volunteers to paddle one stretch of river, either Barton to Carver, Carver to Riverside, or Riverside to Clackamette. Along the way, each pod will stop and clean a one-mile section, then return back to Barton park for a scrumptious BBQ, silent auction and homespun booty-shakin' tunes by Jim Brunberg's New Thing & Keep Your Fork There's Pie. River runners bringing their own boats must be class II+ competent boaters. If you don't have your own boat, we can accommodate up to 75 volunteers in our All Star event paddle rafts. Volunteers will clean up the Lower Clackamas River from Barton down to Clackamette Park. Each volunteer will be assigned to pod that will clean up one segment along one stretch of the river.
