Flows On The Feather

The Feather will be flowing from late November until the end of December. PG&E will start
spilling between 600 and 900cfs on 11/16 in the Cresta reach. These flows are projected to
continue until the 22nd of December.
***On this Sunday only, 11/19 both Cresta units will be out of service from 0700 to 1400
for a short outage. The flows in the river in the Cresta Reach will be 2300-2900 cfs during those
hours.*** .
The Cresta reach is boatable at these flows but be advised that some rapids, particularly county
line hole, get pretty stompy at these flows.
The Rock Creek reach is scheduled for spill flows from November 27th to December 7th. During
this period PG&E expects flows in the Rock Creek Reach to be at least 600-700 cfs. This is
lower than summer release flows but still very boatable.
If you get out on either of these reaches, particularly the Cresta reach, we will be very
interested to know what you think of the flows. This information will be very important in helping
us determine a flow schedule for the Cresta reach next summer. AW staff and agency biologist will
be meeting on the Feather to look at flows and determine how studies can be done to better evaluate
potential impacts to tadpoles during releases. Boatablity information will factor into this
decision so we will need feedback from boaters. Look for an online survey to appear on the AW
website during the next few weeks.
