At the recent American Whitewater Board meeting in North Bend (WA), the Directors appointed Courtney Wilton, of Portland (OR), to a special two-year term to fill the seat vacated by Eric Nies.

Courtney is currently the CFO for Clackamas Community College in Oregon and brings to the AW Board a high level of financial expertise. When asked his interest in being an American Whitewater Director, Courtney responds; "I admire AW for a number of reasons. One, I strongly support its mission of river stewardship. Two, I’m very impressed with AW’s effectiveness given its limited budget and small staff. Finally, I believe demands on our natural resources and specifically our rivers will only increase in the future as population grows and economic pressures increase. I’m hopeful AW will be there in the future to continue its crucial role and I’d like to help them in any way I can - be it on the board or via some other type of support."

You can view the board bio for Courtney here and the full list of current AW Board members here.

Please join with me in welcoming Courtney to the American Whitewater Board of Directors and thanking Eric Nies for all his years of service to American Whitewater.

If you have an interest in serving on the American Whitewater Board, nominations are due July 1. View the nomination information here.
