Selway Bridge Replacement a Post-Permit Season Hurdle (ID)

The US Forest Service is replacing the Indian Creek Bridge, which will result in a closure of the road to the normal Selway River put-in (the Paradise Boat Launch) from August 8-19th.  The work may require additional time if problems occur.  The construction dates were selected to avoid the floating permit season and the first week of un-permitted floating, and later season fisheries constraints.

Paddlers wanting to run the Selway during the road closure period may put in upstream of the Indian Creek Bridge, however there are no designated or developed launch sites in this area.  Launching upstream of the Indian Creek Bridge will add about 6 miles to your river trip.  This section of river is straightforward Class III however it is much smaller than the Selway at Paradise Boat Launch, where Whitecap Creek, a significant tributary, boosts the Selway's flow.  It is unclear if this section of river is navigable in a raft at the relatively low late-season flows.

The road closure was announced on the US Forest Service, West Fork Ranger District Website
