Pit Release this Weekend (Pit River Bridge Closed) Oct 2015

This weekend, October 10-11, 2015, is the first of two weekend releases on the Pit 1 reach of the Pit River. We have been notified by the Shasta County Department of Transportation that the Pit River Bridge, just outside the town of Fall River Mills, will be closed indefinitely due to safety concerns.  This will impact access to the put-in for the release this weekend and in the future.  The recommended shuttle route, through the town of McArthur, will add about 11 miles to the shuttle.

 

Here are the shuttle route directions:

 

From the BLM campground drive East on HWY 299 past Fall River Mills, about 4 Miles to the town of McArthur. Turn right on to Main St in McArthur go about 300 yards to Jim Day Rd. Turn left drive over the Pit river. Drive 1-2 miles to Dee Knoch Rd. Turn right drive south for about 4-5 miles and you will come out on Cassel Fall River RD, directly across from the put in
