River festivals, such as those on the Gauley, Deerfield and Feather take a significant amount of time, effort and energy on the part of American Whitewater staff and volunteers. Without our volunteers, the simple fact is that these events cound not take place. While there's no doubt that every little bit helps when it comes to putting on events, some individuals go above and beyond and are indispensable in making events happen.

At this year's Feather Fest, Dan and Ginni Vernau were those people. Selling coffee in the morning, judging slalom gates during the day, and then manning the gate during the evening festivities - these two people were everywhere! To say they were center stage would be an understatment. In fact, they also picked up the stage and assembled it for the event and then took it down and returned it after the event. All of these activities were completed while displaying big smiles and infectious laughter. Hats off to you two. . .thanks for making this year's Feather Fest a success.

In recognition of Dan's and Ginni's efforts at Feather Fest, they will each receive a custom Kokatat X-Jacket
