American Whitewater is pleased to recognize Matt Booth as our February 2015 Volunteer of the Month!

Matt is one of the original organizers of the Lyons Outdoor Games in Lyons, Colorado and has worked passionately to grow the event into a world-class showcase of human-powered recreation - including slalom, boatercross, freestyle and creek events on the Saint Vrain River. After the destructive floods that hit the river and local communities in September 2013, Matt worked to give recreation a strong voice in flood recovery and master planning efforts. He has assisted American Whitewater in identifying opportunities to improve river access and facilities, and given the paddling community a say in how we rebuild the river and the communities of Lyons, Longmont, and Boulder County.

Matt has also helped establish the Saint Vrain Creek Coalition by serving next to State, County, and local officials on an Interim Planning Commitee that is charged with implementing the St. Vrain Master Plan and Flood Recovery Projects. Matt is working to fund new staff positions that will coordinate flood recovery, and is positioned to represent recreation interests on the Coalition's Board of Directors.

In recognition of Matt's contributions this year and his ongoing commitment to American Whitewater's mission and our projects in Colorado, we are pleased to recognize him as our volunteer of the month. In thanks for his efforts, Matt will receive a Kokatat X-Jacket!
