Good news! The Metropolitan Washington Council
of Governments decided to fund the Little Falls gauge on the Potomac when they met on Friday, May
20. The meeting was short of a quorum, therefore the decision is not yet locked in stone; however
keeping the gauge in their budget was unanimously supported. They Council is reportedly already
working on a contract to pay for the gauge, and are going to notify USGS. It appears that a
shutdown was averted. Thanks to our members for all their phone calls; they really helped!
