The 4th Annual North Alabama Whitewater Festival, located on Locust Fork of the Warrior River in Blount County, will be held March 7-9, 2008.  The weekend will incorporate whitewater kayaking competitions, games, live music, raffles, arts and crafts, food, refreshments, camping, and good times.

Friday’s events including the Fluid Kayaks Huckfest and the Larabar Boater X are located at Short Creek Falls.  Saturday brings spectators the excitement of the Terrapin Beer Company Throwdown and Gaia Paddlesports Big Trick Contest at King’s Bend.  Face painting, charicaturists, games, and other family friendly activities will also be a highlight of Saturday’s offerings. Over 14 bands and solo musicians from Birmingham and surrounding areas will entertain the crowds during the entire weekend with Red Bull sponsored DJ Lee Jeffrey spinning the latest hits to wrap up the festivities on Saturday night.

The organizers of NAWFest, in conjunction with American Whitewater, plan to raise awareness and money for local and national conservation groups such as Black Warrior Riverkeeper, Alabama Rivers Alliance, Friends of the Locust Fork, and The Husley Little River Trust.   For more information please visit:  www.nawfest.net
