Kansas City Whitewater Club
The Kansas City Whitewater Club was established around 1985 and incorporated
as a not-for-profit organization in 1999. The KCWC seeks to provide basic
kayak and canoe paddling skills and on-the-river training to club members
and the community. The club also has ACA certified Swiftwater Rescue
instructors as its members. Providing a fun and safe paddling experience on
the water has been the hallmark of the KCWC for over 20 years. There are
several Class II rivers and playspots in the KC area that are rain dependent
that members enjoy, but we also take numerous weekend trips to rivers in the
Ozarks and the beautiful St. Francis River in east-central Missouri. Club
trips to Colorado are an annual tradition along with a yearly trip to
southeast rivers in the fall. There is a strong contingent of members who
own their own rafts and enjoy multi-day paddling trips on western rivers.
Club members also like to participate in slalom racing events and hosts an
annual indoor pool slalom to provide winter training opportunities. The
KCWC is a very social organization and invites prospective members of all
ages and paddling crafts to attend our monthly gatherings posted in our
newsletter and on the website. Families, singles, and married couples,
young and matured, all enjoy the camaraderie provided by the KCWC.
