My early years as a whitewater paddler were spent mostly on the Deerfield River in Western Massachusetts, which was one of AW's earliest re-licensing successes. As I became more aware of American Whitewater's efforts, I poured more effort into the organization as a volunteer for the Deerfield River Festival.

After completing my degree in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism from Springfield College I worked for a YMCA running teen adventure programs for two years before coming to work for American Whitewater.

I now work out of my home in Asheville coordinating the American Whitewater Journal, events, and our relationships with industry partners. When not working I enjoy exploring the mountains of Western North Carolina by foot, boat, or bike with my wife Amy.
