I've been thinking about getting a pair of NRS ATB Wetshoes and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them? I know they're a heavier "boot", but I like the their sturdy appearance in that some of my trips involve a small hike on steep and somewhat rocky terrain.
Specifically, are these shoes sturdy yet flexible enough to squeeze into a kayak or are they better fitted for rafting?
With the data you provided, it is virtually impossible to answer your question. Relevant information like:
What kayak (make/model) will you be paddling?
What type of bulkhead/footrest/footbag system are you using in it (how adjustable is the footroom?)
How snug are you in it now, with what type of footwear?
What is your shoe-size and inseam?
For what it's worth, I know a number of people (who have trouble fitting anythng but the thinnest sole "rodeo sock" type booties into their boats) who will just stow and secure a pair of sandals behind the seat/backband. It's a bit of a PITA to have to take them out, put them on for scouts and portages, and re-stow them, but it's better than being in pain in the boat (or having to buy and paddle a different boat just to be able to fit a thicker sole boot into).
