IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
The Mad River Whitewater Park in Dayton, Ohio is moving forward. We have reached the point of Public Comment, the last step in the permitting process! On our website [www.kayakdayton.com]
you will find information on this project.
To make the process of commenting simple, we have created a comment form on our website. Please take a moment to review the information and then fill out and submit your comment. Your comments will be submitted to the Corp and to Five Rivers Metro Parks prior to the closing date.
If you prefer you can send your comments directly to: US Army Corps of Engineers; Attn: CELRH-OR-F Public Notice No. 2007-00652-GMR, 502 8th St; Huntington, WV 25701-2070.
Attached is a word document of the comment form for anyone wishing to collect comments on paper. There is a space in the box to insert your name or department that the completed forms should be turned in to.
Public Comment Ends on FRIDAY, MARCH 28. All comments must be on the Corps desk by close of the 3/28 business day. We only have a short time! Send your comments in TODAY!
You can help by contacting as many people as possible and encouraging them to submit their support for this project.

Project History: The original whitewater park proposal was a modification of the low head dam in downtown Dayton. That particular project was tabled. After reconsidering, Five Rivers Metro Parks moved forward with the current plan of modifying the Mad River and creating the whitewater park three miles upstream from the original location. The modification of the low head dams in Dayton are still being considered by the Miami Conservancy District with low head dam safety being their primary objective.
