So I offically like Safari a lot. I just got an iPhone, and it's the coolest thing ever. :-) I am writing this in a recording studio in my house, and I've been thinking of ditching Microsoft completely and going Mac in the studio. I can run Linux on the Mac dual boot (and I have a server anyway that I can just remotely log into.) Mac OS X is a cousin of Linux anyway, so running a UNIX core is something that makes me happy anyway. How many people out there have made the switch from MS to Apple, and what did they think? How about for recording. I use Cubase SX 3, Reason 3, Live, and a MAudio ProjectMix I/O. Thoughts?

Well, sound and video editing are a strong point of Apple, although the dual boot doesn't give a fig if the operating systems are Linux, XP, Jaguar or Vista. The Bios just asks you to choose which partition to boot to and then hands the reins over to that boot sector. Of course, there's more to it than that, but not much more.

PS: I'm resurrecting a couple of legacy machines Barry, want a Pentium II 450 MHz machine for a linux box? I'll make you a steal of a deal.

Actually, I've got one 667 MHz Pentium III slated for refurbishing, but I'm probably going to put XP on that one. Still, if you wanted it, you could save it from a life running windows apps...

I went Mac and came back.

Mac's got it's strengths and some distinct advantages over Windows OS. Windows has it's strong points too. The hardware issue is debatable, particularly since the PC open archetecture allows a lot of competition among hardware manufacturers which produces a vast array of varying hardware configurations and innovations. In the end, it's all about what you want and what you're trying to do with it.

I started out on apple's .22 single shot bolt action, but due to somer long-standing ancestory feudal problem, I was forced to switch along with everyone else in the family to the old KY long-rifle. Heck, we used to kidnap one of 'em, tie 'em up, run south of our loggin' woods ( which were claimed by Devil Anse and people been kilt over it ) to a wild rive they called the breaks. There, we climbed down and threw 'em in at a place had three big roughs in a row ! We never saw em come out too.

I've got this apple notebook i could sell you. it comes with a graphite stylus too! This predates event the ibook and is thinner than the new MacBook Air. Good news, it's 100% recycled and never needs charging. Running Safari may be a challenge though...spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Hanley no thanks on the PCs. I'm happy with my Macs:-)

Dustin awesome notebook! And there's no prob if it's dropped. I think that stylus is a carbon polluter. Or, at least it would be with my hand writing...

Wavey,

I ran across this G3 iBook for sale on Craigslist. Personally, I wouldn't give this much for a machine with these specs, but Macs are more expensive and I don't know how to price them so I'll leave that to you. Also I find that folks on Craigslist can often be bargained with.
