I'm new to the BWA and getting accustomed to the world of whitewater. I need a great beginner boat. I have been searching for something like the following:
Jackson 4-Fun , Dagger Mamba , WaveSport Big EZ , LiquidLogic CR125/CR250
I currently have a Dagger Outburst and a WaveSport ForPlay up for trade or sale.
If anyone has any leads, boats, or suggestions please let me know.
I'm not trying to sell any boats right now but I have a 4Fun and a Mamba 8.0, and am also very new to whitewater. (mostly class 2 with a bit of class 3 experience)
I would strongly encourage you to try before you buy, these are two very different boats.
For me (probably 200 lbs dressed to paddle), the Mamba is very forgiving, while the Jackson is not.
That said, the Jackson is the easiest rolling boat I've ever been in in my life. Also. I lent the Jackson to a much smaller person for clinic this year (maybe 110 lbs soaking wet) and he had a blast and never tripped, even though I distinctly saw him leaning the wrong way on some of his eddy turns.
If I'm going to run something I've never seen before I would pick the Mamba, the Jackson is a lot more playful, I'm going to enjoy getting to know it, but it's not my first choice for running new stuff.
Finally, if you would like to try either of the boats and we could work out the logistics, I would be more than willing to lend.
Thanks Robert! I appreciate the advice. I would like to take you up on your offer if the details can be worked out. I hope the BWA can setup a pool session soon.
I wouldn't mind paying someone to use their personal pool for an hour or two just to demo a little and practice my roll. Any takers?
