Description: After an awkward portage on river right next to a fish ladder we got a good view of the base of the dam. Although 1,400 cfs was coming down the river upstream, only 230 cfs was going over this dam into the river below. All the rest was being diverted for irrigation. The main canal takes most of that flow and can carry up to 2,000 cfs. The Main Canal diversion is a large structure on river left a few hundred yards upstream of the dam.
