Cliff Band

See Other Photo Versions

Description: This is part of a very interesting cliff band. The cliffs started at the Beginner's Gold rapid, ran next to the river till just above the Main Canal, then veered away. The cliffs were mostly fairly low, but fairly high at the beginning and the end. Many interesting overhangs and shallow caves were visible. I have no idea whether the cliffs are a soft sandstone or a hardpan of some sort. Maybe that is the same thing. Having these cliffs to look at as well as occasional osprey flying over, made the flat water paddle at the end interesting.
