| Account | I missed the river-right boof line 2ish feet left of where I was taught to go, and I failed to take a good stroke when I landed. Surprising how fast I was typewriter'd in a side-surf (along with a window shade or two :) to the river-left pin rock. WARNINGS: it's hard to reach the grab loop in the pinned position, it's very hard to get out of the boat, and it was hard (for me at least) to swim out. I'm grateful that Adam Griffith (Asheville NC) was there with his bow because my wimpy swimming seemed only able to keep me at the surface once I finally found it. The pin occurred around 2pm on 21 June (level around 1000cfs). The photo was taken around 7pm (level around 400cfs, assuming that the gauge is 2ish?? hours downstream -- correct me if I'm wrong). The boat had shifted and rotated a bit by the time we took the photo |
