| Account | The put-in and the first couple miles of the run start out with flatwater providing a good warmup and chance to enjoy the scenery. The whitewater starts with a bang as you pass under the aqueduct which carries Deschutes River water high across the river to irrigate farms to the north. It looks a whole lot bigger from the upstream side but the good news is you have a decent recovery pool at the bottom. Looking down the gut of this rapid from above, it is one of the more intimidating drops on the run but it's a ton of fun. Entering the first part of No Name. At these flows you can crash through the hole if you have some speed but if you let off the gas be prepared for some dynamic surfing. Buried in the entrance hole at China Dam. Hollywood Road which leads down to China is effectively now a trail. Access at Crooked River Ranch to the Hollywood Road which heads down to China Dam. |
