Account	First drop on the Upper Tye. This falls comes at the entrance to the first canyon section and can be scouted on the right. There is a decent line down the left side. Lining up for the entrance to the first gorge section. This rapid requires negotiating the first hole at the top and then being in control to hit the left side of the main drop (and thereby avoid the wall on the right). After that you need to quickly get back in control for Skin So Soft which is right downstream. Hit the right side of this drop and then just slide down a smooth slide into the pool below. Some more great rapids await as you continue downstream. Boris lines up for the center right line on Monkey Cage. There is a good pool above the falls that makes it easy to line up for this drop. Looking back upstream at Monkey Cage Falls--notice the "monkeys" in the viewing platform on river left above the falls. After a decent recovery pool the river plunges over Crack in the Earth. Mike melts down into the aerated water flowing out of Crack in the Earth. This is a truly amazing rapid where the entire river makes a right-angle turn towards river right. This is looking back upstream at the ledge less than a hundred yards downstream of Crack in the Earth. This ledge can give people problems. After a fun entrance edge the river disappears over this horizon line. It's easy to scout on the left. Just make sure you have a nice boof to the left as you launch off this final ledge. Depending on flows and your style, this drop offers a couple different options. Here, Terry heads down the right line which is a good sneak at higher flows when the left side ledges get a little meaty. With this one you start towards the right and then head down the left being careful not to paste yourself up against the wall on river left. There is a good take-out trail on river left from the pool at the bottom of this rapid and before the river flows under the Highway 2 Bridge.
