| Account | This is what the tree looked like coming up to it. From the center of the river you can see that it spans the entire river. The side of the river is difficult to eddy out in with oar boats because of the heavy brush and swift current. The branches still have pine needles intact. The far river left side, which looked runnable for kayaks from upstream, has a log behind it running on a diagonal from the left and looks like it channels you into a piece of sheet metal. (Sorry for the blurry pic, it was a disposable camera). From this shot you can see the branches reaching down into the water under the tree. |
