Account This is the namesake drop to "Black Dick" rapid on the Upper Birkenhead, near the top of one of longer
class V stretches near the end of the run. An un-named paddler dropped head first between the two boulders on the right,
and scrambled up onto the slab-like rock in the middle below them ---- and the colorful story can be found here.

The date listed is a guess, but it was August 2007.
