(RM) Second Helping - Top Hole

| Account | Broken nose is the one of the more difficult rapids on the Ocoee. The basic goal is to hit the last drop straight and with speed. Otherwise you'll be in for an extended stay in the bottom hole. Diamond Splitter can be run on either side of the "Diamond Splitter" Rock. However, the river left line is preferred in order to avoid anyone playing in "Witches Hole" at the bottom of the right line. Look closely and you'll see a paddler side surfing in "Witches Hole". Also, the rapid in the background is Tablesaw. Grumpy's Ledge is the first rapid on the Ocoee. It can be run a number of ways, however the preferred line is on far river left. In the background you can see Dam #2 and the put-in ramp. Moon Chute is one of the favorite 360 play spots on the Ocoee. It gets its name from the rock (Crack-In-The-Butt-Rock) in the upper left corner of the photo. One of the more popular play holes is at the bottom of Second Helping (aka Slice-n-Dice). Its a great training spot to work your way up to "Hell Hole." Here a boater is doing a Loop. (aka the-play-move-of-the-moment). Second Helping (aka Slice-n-Dice) is one of the longer rapids on the Ocoee. This is the top portion. Note the boater doing a Loop in the top hole. You'll need a quick roll when playing in this hole. If you don't, you'll flush into the next hole and discover the shallow slab rock that hides there. |
