You can go to the end of Lundy Road depending what you drive. The gravels road turns into a dirt road, gets more muddy and bumpy the further you go. We soon got to a point where we couldn't go further. A map appears to show if you start at the end of Lundy Rd, at 1020ft(?) and take out at the intersection of Lundy and Cutler Road, 400ft(?), you will have paddled five miles and dropped 620ft, 124fpm. This is a guess. Higher up the road may have more difficult rapids/drops. Take-out: We parked at a dirt parking lot just upstream of a bridge (Cutler Road) that crossed the creek. The men working on the bridge were the only people we saw. We drove upstream as far as our cars allowed at another dirt-parking spot. There was only one private road that I noticed on the way to the put-in. Basically, CL4 run with a mix of easier and a few harder rapids that pushed CL4+. As for CLV rapids, I didn't experiance them but supose that further up they exist. Perhaps higher flows will create this(?). Very little flat and/or boring water. It pretty much moved well even at a lower runnable level and the creek seemed to have more water the further downstream we got. There are a few smaller brooks that feed it.. Paddling downstream, I don't think there were any homes present, however, the rapids/drops demanded my attention. I did notice one private road on the way to the put-in. This is very remote. There were three places we portaged. One mainly due to recirc at the bottom of the drop. The other two times due to wood. HEADS UP: At the begining of our journey, around the ben, there was a creek-wide strainer that two out of three of us hit. We saw it last minute. I think most if not all the steeper drops or not seen from the road.
For an easier run I suppose you could start at said bridge (where we took out) and take-out at somewhere passed 209, or on the Roundout. Where you should and can legally take-out I haven't a clue. If you do this, please write about it or contact me and I'll add your experiance.
Flows: In time, I hope to find a good guage to get an estimate since there's no gauge on this creek that I know of. I can tell you that the Roundout in Rosendale was about 11.32ft and dropping. Katerskill was down. West Beerkill was running but somewhat low and Beerkill was a strong, heathy medium. Basically, the Roundout seems to be what people refer to for runs in this area.
The Adventurers Bonus. This might be possible. Look at a map with hiking trails. A 2007 map from Venture Out Maps which is Topographic, shows that if you head north on Cherrytown Road, theres a trailhead with parking. The trail is about 1.3 miles Vernooy Falls. I wonder if the creek can be paddled fron this point? You will be driving over the Mombaccus Creek.
