Access: To reach the river, go to Highway 410 mile 88.4, turn onto Bumping River Road and cross the American River. You can access the Bumping River at the confluence with the American at American Forks Campground or continue a short distance upstream to Cedar Springs Campground. To reach the put-in, continue up the road to Bumping Crossing at mile 9.7 or go a short distance further and turn onto the access road that heads over to the base of the dam.
Description: This river cuts through a shifting channel which means that in some years there are significant wood hazards.
Gauge: The gauge is maintained by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Yakima Project (flow information also available through from the Army Corps gauge). The source of water for this section is Bumping Reservoir. A level between 300 and 600 cfs is ideal. You can contact the flow information line at 509-575- 5854 which will provide you with a daily conditions and the plan for the next couple days. the top. The left channel has less water, but it was clear when we ran it in June 2008. The right
channel had major logs in it, and one of our group ended up swimming and his boat got away from
him.
