Yucca Creek to Paradise Beach

Usual Difficulty IV-V (may vary with level)
Length 6.4 Miles

River Description

This is a busy and exciting run with numerous memorable rapids.

Put in: From Three Rivers, drive up the North Fork Road to the end at Yucca Creek. After the start of fire season, there is a gate on the road almost a mile before the end. It is an easy downhill hike from the gate.

Take out: Since 2007, the BLM public access points at Paradise, Advance and Cherry Falls have been closed to the public. Boaters who launch at Yucca Creek must continue all the way down to the main Kaweah to exit the river or else risk a $1,000 fine. See the North Fork Kaweah BLM Closure Notice. Bill Pooley has more information at his Kaweah River Page.

Gauge Information

Gauge Description:

The NF Kaweah has a dependable Spring snowmelt season, typically in March, April and May.   Winter rain events sometimes also bring it up to boatable levels.

About halfway up the North Fork Road, there is a bridge with a painted gauge.   Bill Pooley reports that runnable levels range from about 1.2  up to 3 on the painted gauge.
