Gauge Description:

The 'virtual gauge' cited here should fairly well reflect the 'paddlers gauge' at the Hwy.C bridge (Kosir's). (Units are 'inches', not 'feet' as shown above.) It is being used on this reach mostly to allow 'reference' for the "Roaring Rapids" reach which follows. (Many boaters continue to reference the 'boater's gauge', and look for ways to make the conversion.)

While the river may be floatable at lower levels than the stated 'minimum', the rapids are likely to be quite scrapey. Similarly, this reach is certainly boatable at and above the stated 'maximum', but will be pushy 'big water'.
