to run this river wait for a gauge reading of no less than 3.0. Even at that level it will be a
bump and grind trip. On 2008-03-30 we tried to run the Lost River (town) to Rt. 55 bridge section.
The guage reading was listed as 2.6 on this website. We spent 2 hours of bumping and draging our
kayaks to cover less than 4 miles of river! We then decided to abort the trip. This river needs to
be at 3.4 or better to provide an enjoyable trip. Also, the put in across from the Lost River
General Store is now blocked by electric fence on the road side of the river. If you decide to park
at the Methodist Church parking lot and go down over the bank to get on the river, you will need to
negotiate a nasty length of barbed wire placed across the river, which a local farmer has kindly
provided. Watch out for additional wires every mile or so after that. Edit
