i got to paddle deep only once and maybe having very high water gave me a different perspective. We
didn't hike in at all but rather put in on a southern (?)tributary by a playground. The tributary
had several good rapids but also had the typical plateau brush to paddle through. You have to be
careful here b/c you may just bushwack straight into a seive as i did. Once on deep i thought the
were somed rapids but also a couple i didn't want to paddle and no one else did either like daniel
d., nathan h., and charlie b. portages weren't bad but i thought that the trip and quality of the
run was average at best. again this may be due to high water since the soddy gauge was
underwater.
sorry about poor spelling
Ed. Note: The level we paddled at, you could see a lot of the gauge, but I don't remember the exact
level. I do remember that the concrete footer on the bridge pillar located at the Big Soddy
takeout, when the water was at the top of footer it was a "normal" level for Soddy, and it was
underwater for our run on Deep Creek.
