River Description
Photo: Tony Allred runs probe on Deer Creek's only Class III rapid, by Charles S. Hihn. Photo
courtesy of the Monocacy Canoe Club.
There is a short Class III set of chutes near the gauge. Much of the rest of this long run is
rather tame but pretty. Picks up speed again when it makes its final drop to the Susquehanna.
See Gertler, Ed; Maryland and Delaware Canoe Trails.
Lat/longitude coords are VERY approximate, from TopoZone.
Ed Evangelidi testifies:
The Class 3 rapids at Rocks may be negotiated down below 150 CFS, as it is quite constricted.

pass under Route 1. A suggested short trip would be to put in at sandy hook road and take out at
the bridge at Forge Hill Rd, there is a small dirt path that is negotiable on the right side of the
bridge. Edit
