Gauge Description:
Robert Mac Dowell shared:
The level that's posted comes from about 35 miles downstream of the section that's paddled. As a general rule of thumb, subtract 1.5 ft. from that reading and that should put you in the ballpark of the reading at the park. If the gauge at Loyalsockville is on the rise, chances are the park gauge will be higher. The min. level at the park is 3.5 ft. with the better levels starting around 4.5 ft. At the upper levels around 7 or 8 ft. This creek gets huge holes and big waves that are hard to catch but a fun run. A swim at these levels would mean being in the water for a long period of time and very hard to get to shore.
