River Description

The upper 3.5 miles is a  beautiful, class II section of Glen Creek which runs right alongside Glen Creek Road. Check for wood as you drive along the road. When the creek moves away from the road in the lower 1/2 mile, get ready for some major steep creeking. Nicknamed 'Hells Bells', this 240 fpm section is narrow, twisting, and high velocity. Prior scouting for wood is highly advisible; this is best done by walking up from route 28 on river left to the former bridge site, and walking down from Glen Creek road on river right to the same bridge site.

Gauge Description:

There is no gauge for this creek. The best is to evaluate it by sight from the route 28 bridge. The next best is to evaluate the Hudson river gauge as above. However, the minimum number is merely approx.

As of now, all wood is out of the lower stretch, except for one huge tree/log that crosses the entire width of the river....its right after the long slide, i.e. rapid before hells bells. Portage on the right. Edit

The upper 3.5 miles is a beautiful mostly class II section which runs right alongside Glen Crek Road. The lower 1/2 mile section moves away from the road and drops 120 feet!
