River Description

The section between Riparius and the Glen begins to pick up the image of some of the easier rapids found in the gorge. Once you see a small bridge on river right with Mill creek flowing under you should be prepared for one of the more challenging rapids on this section called either Z ledges or the hook. The rapid is entered left of center and followed up with a "Z" move around pour overs. In high water avoid the pour over on river right as it is very hungary and you will merely end up being a snack. After several other rapids you will notice a large rock island in the center of the river. Take the narrower channel on river right and set up for a good surfing wave. After you are done surfing that wave proceed down to Route 28 bridge where you will find another good surfing wave on river left about 60 yards upstream. One last rapids remains about a quarter of a mile below the bridge with a sneak route on river left and a very enjoyable wave train in river center. You will probably want to avoid the pour overs on river right.

Gauge

Gauge Description:

This section can be run at 3.5 but tends to be a bit bony. Above 7 feet it becomes very pushy with some significant pour overs and hydralics. The gauge is up stream about 8 miles at North Creek. It is also about 25 miles from the beginning of the upper gorge so any bubble that resulted from the dam release on the Indian will be somewhate insignificant.
