River DescriptionDESCRIPTION: If you're looking for maximum action (class V), you can start by running Dillon Falls (scout carefully) or put in to run the gorge at it's base. Most who paddle this section put in downstream at Aspen Campground to run the short Big Eddy section. It's mostly class II and finishes off with some big bouncy class III. This is a popular day-trip for commercial groups. The take-out is just above Lava Island Falls which is well marked. For a description of the run see the Upper Deschutes page on the Orgeon Kayaking site. For additional information on recreational opportunities see the Deschutes National Forest web site .
