Blacklick Creek
Route 56 to Josephine II-IV
River DescriptionEd Evangelidi shared on 2002-07-31:Blacklick Creek reminds me of lower Stonycreek River; the two make a good intermediate-level combination. There are some hydraulics that look big and one tough move to make at low water levels. The takeout area is all presently under destruction and the upstream bridge at Josephine is now gone but will be replaced. Take out on US 119, upstream river right. StreamTeam Status: unverified

I ran Blacklick 3/23/08. The right channel of the first large island with small trees on it is blocked at the bottom. There are only two such island on this section. There is a large square boulder in the middle of the channel at the bottom that the current piles into. The log is across this boulder, blocking most of both routes around it. The log looks like it will remain there for quite some time. The left channel is open.

Saylor Park in the town of Blacklick is now a good take out. The bridge work has been completed. Also, the Ghosttown bike trail ends at Saylor Park with its own bridge. This trail makes a bike shuttle to Heshbon easy.
