Buchanan Valley to Bridgeport (West Conewago Narrows)Class III-V
2 Miles
River DescriptionFor more information, see Keystone Canoeing by Gertler, E.There are two Conewago Creeks, on opposite sides of the Susquehanna River. Click here for Conewago (East).
This is a short whitewater stretch on a long flatwater river. It comes up rarely and drops quickly, so it's rarely paddled. StreamKeeper Lee Thonus says "There is a 2 mile stretch along Narrows Rd (Rte 234) that looks like it would start with a class 2 section, hit 3-4 for a while, then revert to class 2 at the sawmill. Most of the surrounding land is heavily posted and aggressively enforced. The landowners apparently do not mind boaters as long as you let them know ahead of time. When it is high enough to boat it is too high to fish and they are jealously guarding their "private" trout stream." StreamTeam Status: unverified

there is a stretch a 1 mile above Bridgeport that passes through state leased properties and houses, which a private angling club manages. There are 7-8 small, 1-1.5 foot creekwide ledge drops built with railroad ties, creating small fish "pools".
As you get into Bridgeport, the main road bridge underdeck has a nasty piece of wire rope that hangs down, snagged in debris and pulled to river left--be very conscious of this. Edit
