River Description

Upper Clear Creek

Class 4-5 run that requires a one mile hike in. Large wood often blocks the creek so always be on the lookout and scout any blind drops. There is one mandatory portage about one half mile downstream of the high bridge and is followed shortly afterwards by one class 4-5 rapid that can't be portaged or completly scouted. Small increases in flow can transform this from a low water run into a real thumper with stout holes.
Water quality, scenery and rapids are superb, this run is a hidden gem.

Lower Clear Creek

Put in at the Slippery View River Access on the Clear Creek Road. The six miles from here to the Klamath River are stunning. Rapids are generally class 2 with a couple easy class 3 drops. The road runs on the river left high above the creek and hiking out would be very difficult and long. Take out at the Klamath River Highway on river left.

There is a beautiful class II-III run that starts at Four mile river access (Slippery View) and runs to the confluence with the Klamath. The creek runs through an unbelievable gorge with waterfalls cascading into the creek. I ran it winter 02 zak95006@yahoo.com
