b) Bernie's Hole (Dayton)Class I
Gauge Information
River DescriptionRon Metzger shared:I assume this hole is named for Bernie at Whitewater Warehouse. It's on a short run that people do on a regular basis after work (shuttled by the Whitewater Warehouse crew) and the only playable feature on the stretch. The putin is off a little access road to the water works/gov't facilities off Harshman road just South of the state Route 4 intersection or you can park near Eastwood Lake. There have been some issues with leaving cars on the access road, so keeping in good standing with the city is key; when in doubt hike it in a bit from the park. Takeout is at the Keowee Street bridge and parking can be had at Whitewater Warehouse just a short walk away. The feature itself is a nice little play wave - nothing intimidating but big enough that I've seen people loop at higher levels. Short eddy service on the right feeds into the shallow side of the wave and more service can be found behind a pile of logs jammed into the center of the feature. The best spot (my opinion) is river right of the log jam where the river has some depth to it - it shallows the closer to shore you get on river right but is still playable. You can walk the banks if you flush too far downstream. The Outdoor Adventure Club of Dayton has scheduled weekday runs there in the summer. Note: You may also wish to visit Huffman Dam, which lies about a mile upstream. StreamTeam Status: unverified

just commenting on the above info
-don't park on the water departments road, you will be towed, they just let bernie run shuttle on that because he used to work there, park in eastwood lake park
-the hole isn't as good as it used to be, but generally 1000 and above is good, close to 3000 it is a workout to get back in the eddy
-it never really turns into a wave, I've been out there at around 8000-9000 and it was still a wave-hole and easy to stay on but you only had one shot

"1,400-1,200 lower is just for goofing off. I have seen it at 2,000 and it was very sticky. I have seen it at 3,000 and it became a front surfing wave that is easy to get pushed off of.
