John's is my favorite creek. I can remember how excited my fellow paddlers and I were the day we planted the trees on the land purchased for the takeout. That was the last day I was able to run John's Creek. The access issue is a real drag and I've pretty much given up on any access negotiations by those working on it. I've spoken to the landowner once at length and written him two letters. None of my efforts were successful but I will say that he was more than willing to tell me his side of the story, and he seemed like a kind man. It's clear to me that boaters are responsible for offending this landowner multiple times, and thus we find ourselves without this great creek run. I don't know the answer at this point except to be patient and please don't run the creek and further offend the landowner(s).

I'm posting this for Jason Robertson, AW Access Director, as he is having some unknown technical problems posting on this forum right now. Jason writes:

I realize that from the outside John\'s Creek appears to be in permanent limbo. I\'m not happy about the situation, but rest assured we\'re still making progress. The problem is that court records and deeds have been moved over the past 300 years through 3 states, several counties, and in a couple of courthouses which burned to the ground destroying records.

We are finally in final stages of our research. While the lack of public action makes it appear as though like little progress has been made, this degree of preparedness has proven 100% effective over the years as we have won every access case entered and we are optimistic about the outcome on John\'s.

The result is that I continue to expect resolution or news in the immediate future. I\'m sorry that I can\'t say more, but our attorney has asked us to be silent on specifics.
