River Description
Due to it's short length this is usually run in tandem with the West Prong of the Otter or Muddy
Creek to increase the paddle time. In addition, by continuing onto the main Otter Creek (past the
KY388/Red House Road bridge) an additional 2-3 miles of class II-III whitewater may be
gained.
The East Prong of the Otter has very continuous whitewater with numerous play possibilities, and
contains some of the steeper drops around Central KY. (At high water levels this can be
considered Madison county's only class IV stream.) Dangers in this section include deadfalls,
sticky hydraulics at higher levels and low clearance under a driveway bridge that should scouted
from East Prong Road when the water levels are very high.
